Donadea Forest Park

The Donadea Forest Park is in north-west Kildare, a half an hour’s drive from Killashee hotel. It is a mixed woodland of 243 hectares. Originally part of the Aylmer family estate, it was left to the Church of Ireland in 1935 following the passing of the last family member, and then sold to the state.

The park is a great example of Ireland’s ancient east, the park is a designated National Heritage Area with historic features including remains of the castle, walled gardens, boat house, tower, church and Lime tree avenue, along with the lake of water-lilies and many species of birds and ducks.

The park has different walks through the forest, a small café and is open every day of the year, until 9.30pm during the summer.
