Step back in time with the Carole Nash Historic Festival, which is back for 2024. Irelands’ only Historic Motor Racing event celebrating Classic & Vintage Race Cars & Bikes from the glamour of the roaring ‘20s through to the swinging ‘60s. The Carole Nash Historic Festival at Mondello Park is an unmissable event for motor racing enthusiasts and car & bike lovers of all ages.
Event Details:
The Carole Nash Historic Festival returns for 2024 on Saturday and Sunday, the 10th and 11th of August. This event offers a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience Ireland’s only historic motor race meeting, celebrating vintage, classic, and racing cars and bikes from the glamorous ’20s to the swinging ’60s. It’s an unmissable occasion for motor racing enthusiasts and car lovers.
On Track Events:
The festival will feature live racing showcasing the skill and adrenaline of drivers in vintage and classic vehicles for the following: Dublin Grand Prix Trophy, St. Brigid’s Trophy & Birrane Perpetual Trophy. Additionally, there will be displays of pedigree Grand Prix motorcycles, complete with teh unique sights and smella of distinvtive two-stroke engines!
Bus Service:
A coach will run between Poplar Square in Naas Town and Sallins Train Station (Supervalu side) for just €10 return. No specific coach reservations are needed; it’s first come, first served. You can purchase yourticket on Mondello's website listed below.
Off Track Attractions:
Beyond the racing, the festival offers a world of entertainment and exploration. Highlights include:
- Classic and Vintage car shows
- Passenger laps with Irish motorsport stars Alex Dunne, Max Harte, and Jack Byrne
- Celebrations of 75 years of Jaguar sports cars with displays from Porsche Ireland, Jaguar Club Ireland, and Jaguar & Daimler Ireland
- Swing and brass bands to set the nostalgic mood
- A vintage funfair, carnival games, face painting, and street food pop-ups
Special Highlights:
One of the festival’s highlights will be the pre-war Sports Car race, featuring some of the oldest and most charming vehicles, including those with wooden steering wheels and spindly wire wheels. The Historic Formula Ford 1600, Formula 3000, and Historic Racing cars will also be live on track, with home-grown competitors from the HRCA adding to the action-packed program.
The Martin Birrane Collection will be open, displaying iconic cars from the world of motorsport, including those that have competed in Formula One, Le Mans, and NASCAR.
