We are KIllashee are delighted to annouce we have joined up with Johnny Magory-Irish Wildlife & Hertiage for Children. Newly added to the Children's Programme at Killashee. Now more than ever it is so important to support local.
Johnny Magory-Irish Wildlife & Hertiage for Children is a local Kildare Company and the owner is a lady called Emma Jane Leeson. Emma Jane is an author of a children’s book series called ‘I’ll tell you a story about Johnny Magory’ and all the books are based on outdoor adventures around Irish wildlife, nature, heritage and some Gaeilge too. Their purpose is to get children outside exploring & connecting with nature. Their aim is to educate children on Irish heritage & wildlife. The concept of these books originated from Emma-Jane's mum and dad telling her "made up" tales about Johnny Magory. These tales were usually derived from whateve sort of harm or devilment Emma-Jane had got up to that day. Based on the old Irish rhyme, her father's storytelling ensured the children went to sleep excited about their next "advernture" in the morning.
We are delighted to have 4 activities on site associated with Johnny Magory on our estate to make your family visit ever more magical.
Activities:
1: Irish Tree Hunt
Collect your activity sheet at our hotel reception and explore our gardens to find the variety of common beautiful trees. This fun activity is available for all children visit the hotel.
2: Irish Wildlife & Hertage Workshop
This activity is available for all children visit the hotel so just ask at reception for your activity sheet! Take an advernture through our gardens and work out which animals are nocturnal.
3. The Killashee John Magory Wildlife Natural Trail
This was a very exciting project we undertook during the spring to have ready for the summer season. Emma Jane created bespoke Natural Trail throughout our estate here at Killashee. There are 6 short videos which can be accessed at various areas around the hotel estate. To the find the QR code to unlock the videos,you must get your trail map at reception, start your wildlife adventure and follow the map to locate the Johnny Magory signs & QR codes. You will need your parents phone to scan the QR code to watch the video to leave a little about the 6 beautiful Irish animals that can be found on the hotel estate.
4. Bug Hunt
The last activity is for children who are staying on our Family Fun Staycation Package only. On check-in, families request the Bug Jars and a Mini Magnifying Glass so that you can go on a bug hunt around the hotel grounds. Along with your bug jar & magnifying glass you will get your mini beast hunt sheet to know what to look for.
